Post No. 25

( THURSDAY 2:30 p.m. ) I awoke at ten this morning. I had been up late last night reading about Veristic Surrealism and following up information about this term. This search lead me along a string of information leading to such topics as Michael S. Bell, American Surrealist Initiative exhibit, and The Society of the Art of the Imagination. I worked and read about these topics this morning to be a part of a posting at my Oneiric Realism / Dream Matter Notes blog. I spent the rest of the day working on my art.

(FRIDAY 9:46 a.m. ) I awoke at eight this morning and had some time with Debbie before she left for work. Then I made a glass of tea, came upstairs and worked on my Oneiric Realism blog for a bit, then wrote an email to my artist friend Pat McGuane who lives back in my hometown of Pine Grove WV.

I found a station on 365 live today that plays nothing but Led Zeppelin 24 hours a day. WOW! this really made my morning. If you are a member of Live 365 check out the station called “Led Zep Years.”

I had posted a link to the local art supply store here in town in a previous post, “Art and Soul of Sebastopol,” but my favorite art supply store in the area is Riley Street Art Supplies. This is a great art supply store. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the products. I am always excited to go to this store and look about.

(12:12 p.m.) A few days ago I was browsing the artists at myartspace and I found the profile of Greg Fuqua. Greg and I had been in the Limner Gallery and Direct Art magazine together for the Emerging Artists of 2007 show. I had spoke with him in email letters last year because I found his artist statement to very interesting to me because of his reference to topics such as, nature, science, and the forces that shape the form and behavior of matter and consciousness. These topics are interesting to me because they are similar to some of my Oneiric Realism concept. His art has the organic patterning that I refer to as Li within my own work.

(3:02 p.m.) We had Chicken Scampi last night for supper. I just went down and ate what was left of it in the frig. YUMMY! It is one of my favorite meals. (Chicken Scampi Recipe)

I called Amanda as soon as I hung up from talking to Debbie during her lunch break. I asked her if she wanted to go to the Art Gallery in San Francisco this weekend. We will be going to the Frey Norris Gallery to see the Talismanic Lens show. The show is made up of the works of Leonora Carrington. They have other surrealist works at this gallery and I am really looking forward to see them.

Most of the day I have spent experimenting with graphite on the 30×40 piece of illustration board. I now have three pieces in the process of being created.
